|U of M Will Host Memphis in May Student Affairs Conference May 19

The 17th annual Memphis in May Student Affairs Conference (MIMSAC) will be held May 19 on the University of Memphis campus. Sessions will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fogelman Executive Center and the FedEx Institute of Technology.
Dr. Vincent Tinto, professor and chair of the Higher Education program at Syracuse University, will be the keynote speaker. He has conducted research and written extensively on higher education, particularly on learning communities and the social dimensions of student learning, engagement, and retention.
The theme of the 2006 conference is "Implementing Integrative Learning: Pathways that Retain Students for Success." Conference sessions will focus on providing students with purposeful, progressively challenging, integrative learning experiences in and out of the classroom.
Since its origins in 1989, MIMSAC has been held on the U of M campus. This year's conference is a joint presentation of the Memphis in May Student Affairs Conference and the Division of Academic Affairs.
