Robyn Jones, assistant professor of clarinet, came to the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music in
2012. She has held the position of principal clarinet with the Louisiana Philharmonic
Orchestra since 2004. During this time she has been a featured soloist with Debussy's
Premier Rhapsody and also with her colleagues of the LPO clarinet section in the premiere
of A Tribute to Pete Fountain. Prior to assuming her position in New Orleans, she
performed with many orchestras, including the Minnesota Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra
of Chicago, and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
Dr. Jones is also an active teacher and chamber musician. In New Orleans, she taught
at Tulane University and the University of New Orleans. For the past fifteen summers
she has been the clarinet instructor at Luzerne Music Center, in Lake Luzerne, New
York, where she performs weekly with the Luzerne Chamber Players. She has also taught
at Florida State University and the University of Minnesota. In 2006 she performed
at the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest in Atlanta, and in February
2012 she was featured as a guest artist at the annual LSU Clarinet Masters Day.
