Scott L. Hines is Facilities and Performance Manager for the School of Music. In addition to the
main music building, he is responsible for music events in the Communication and Fine
Arts Building, Psychology Auditorium and at three facilities on the Park Avenue Campus.
Dr. Hines received his Doctor of Musical Arts in 2008 from the University of Memphis
where he studied with composition professors John Baur, Kamran Ince and James Richens.
He received his B.M. in music education and music theory/composition and M.M. in composition
from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Dr. Hines serves on the faculty of
the Community Music. He has received commissions and performances by Ballet Memphis
and the Chicago Chamber Orchestra among others. He was named Composer of the Year
in 2005 by the Greater Memphis Music Teachers Association and was nominated for the
2005 Tennessee Composer of the Year. In addition to his career in music, Dr. Hines
worked in television and radio broadcasting and newspaper publishing.
