Kevin Erickson is assistant professor of music industry. His responsibilities include instruction
in all areas of music business, overseeing the Music & Entertainment Industry Student
Association (MEISA), the student managed label Blue Tom Records, and assisting with
the management of the Highwater Records and associated publishing companies. Erickson
earned his undergraduate degree in arts entertainment, and media management from Columbia
College and his M.B.A. (finance concentration) from Norwich University. He has held
executive positions at MCA/Motown Distribution (now Universal Music Group), BMG Distribution
(Now Sony Music Entertainment), Arista Records, Universal South Records, and Show
Dog Records in Nashville.
He has received over 15 gold and platinum record awards and has worked with artists
including Whitney Houston, REM, Brooks and Dunn, Sting, Tom Petty, Pam Tillis, and
Janet Jackson. Mr. Erickson was an adjunct faculty member in music business at Columbia
College Chicago for 10 years and was the faculty advisor to the student managed label
as well. He is a member of National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and the
Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association. Erickson also writes a music
