This year, as the U of M observes its Centennial, the Cecil C. Humphreys School of
Law will note its 50th anniversary with a celebration hosted by the Law Alumni Chapter.
The event will be held throughout the historic law school building, which was opened
in 2010.
A 6 p.m. VIP reception overlooking the Mississippi River will feature live music by
singer-songwriter Caroline Jones. The celebration will continue from 7 to 10 p.m.
with a live music revue from the five decades of the law school’s existence. A documentary
film about the history of the School will be shown on monitors throughout the building
and on special screens in the auditorium spaces. Gourmet food and beverage stations
will offer "Best of Memphis" cuisine from restaurants that are Project Green Fork
Certified.
Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the School, creating support for students
and faculty via scholarships, faculty awards and endowed professorships. Information
and tickets are available online at www.memphis.edu/alumni/law50th.
Ticket prices are $50 each for recent law school graduates (2009-2012) and for U of
M faculty, staff, and law students. (Only a limited number of those tickets are available.)
Other tickets are $150 for the general reception and $250 for the VIP reception. A
package of 12 tickets is available for $1500.
The title sponsors of the event are the law firm of Glassman, Edwards, Wyatt, Tuttle
& Cox and the Glassman family.
