The Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis will again
this year pack meals for the Mid-South Food Bank, and volunteer workers are needed.
Volunteers are asked to be at the atrium of the Fogelman College on Saturday, Oct.
6, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Volunteers may help as little as an hour, for the entire event, or as long as they
can. The event will count toward service hours for individuals seeking to accumulate
such credits.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., entertainment will be provided for the
benefit of the volunteers, and prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories,
with brunch or dinner at The Peabody awarded during each of the six shifts.
Event organizers’ goal is to package 80,000 meals for the Mid-South Food Bank, because
Memphis has one of the highest rates of hunger in the United States. The food and
packaging materials have been provided by area benefactors.
Volunteers may register online at www.123signup.com/event?id=shcyd.
