Libby Shelton has accepted the position of controller in the Division of Business
& Finance at the University of Memphis. The controller’s responsibilities include
oversight and direction of payroll, institutional financial reporting, debt and asset
management, finance administrative systems, post-award grants accounting, cost accounting
(including finance and administrative rate proposals and negotiations), insurance/risk
management, and accounts payable/travel.
Shelton graduated summa cum laude from the University of Memphis in 1986 with a bachelor of business administration
in accounting. A certified public accountant (CPA), she is experienced in quality
performance initiatives and has worked at the U of M for 23 years. Shelton previously
served as director of business operations in the U of M Physical Plant. She also has
been the University’s bursar and assistant director in the Office of Financial Planning.
Shelton also has held financial positions at Wright Medical Technology Inc. and International
Paper.
