The University of Memphis’ River City Writers Series will host fiction writer Dan
Chaon for two events Nov. 7-8. Chaon will give a reading of his work Thursday, Nov.
7, at 8 p.m. in the University Center River Room (room 300). He will conduct an interview
with students Friday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in Patterson Hall, room 456.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Chaon is the author of Stay Awake, Await Your Reply, You Remind Me of Me, Fitting Ends and Among the Missing, which was a finalist for the National Book Award. His fiction has appeared in many
anthologies and journals, including The Best American Short Stories, Pushcart Prize and The O. Henry Prize Stories. Chaon received the 2006 Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy in
Arts and Letters.
He is the Pauline M. Delaney Professor of Creative Writing at Oberlin College.
The River City Writers Series is sponsored by the U of M Department of English, Creative
Writing Club, Student Event Allocation, The Hohenberg Foundation, South Arts and the
National Endowment for the Arts.
