The Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute at the University of Memphis will
host its sixth annual Freight Conference on Oct. 30 at the FedEx Institute of Technology
on the University of Memphis campus. The conference will begin at 8 a.m. with registration
and a light breakfast and will end at noon with a lunch. There is no charge to attend.
Speakers will include Tenn. Dept. of Transportation Commissioner John Schroer; Tenn.
State Sen. Mark Norris; Bob Costello, chief economist and vice president for the American
Trucking Association; Dr. Mike Golias, University of Memphis; Lee Wagner, director
of international sales, Boyd Brothers Transportation Inc.; Pam Kordenbrock, division
administrator, Federal Highway Administration; Congressman Steve Cohen; and Jacques
Rochon, acting director general of international relations and gateway initiatives,
Transport Canada.
“This great lineup of speakers will offer insights into many of the freight transportation
issues that are affecting the industry today,” said Dr. Martin Lipinski, director
emeritus of the Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute.
