ARAMARK, Tiger Dining will take the University of Memphis “out to the ball game” Thursday, Oct. 4, when they host the “Fall Classic” on the Alumni Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A miniature baseball field with an outfield barrier will be assembled for the event, and students can showcase their batting power as they participate in a Wiffleball home run derby.

To play, students are asked to donate $5 to St. Jude’s Charities. All the money collected from entry fees will be given to St. Jude. Entrants will also receive a complimentary St. Jude T-Shirt (while supplies last).

ARAMARK, Tiger Dining will crown a Home Run King and Queenafter the final round, which begins at 3 p.m.

Additionally, the U of M community can enjoy grilled favorites fresh off the “Fall Classic Grill” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Grill will be immediately adjacent to the Alumni Mall.

Tiger Dining received support for its Fall Classic from U of M organizations and departments Up ‘til Dawn, Campus Recreation and Intramural Services, Physical Plant, Department of Residence Life and Dining Services, and Memphis Healthy U.

ARAMARK, Tiger Dining Marketing Manager and event coordinator Sean Armstrong said, “It is an absolute pleasure for our staff to serve the University of Memphis. Our events have certainly grown in popularity with our students over the past year. I know this event will stir much excitement, and I hope to bring the “Fall Classic” back each year – not only for our community, but for St. Jude’s Charities.”

Director of Residence Life and Dining Services Peter Groenendyk, said, “We’re very excited to see this event in action, because it has been highly anticipated, and it is for a wonderful cause.”
