U of M Spring Commencement Moved to May 12

Due to the Memphis Grizzlies playoff game, the University of Memphis will move its spring Commencement to Sunday, May 12, with ceremonies at noon and 4 p.m. at FedExForum.

At the noon Commencement, the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Communication and Fine Arts, and the University College will confer degrees. U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander will be the featured speaker.

In the 4 p.m. ceremony, graduates of the Fogelman College of Business & Economics, the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, the Herff College of Engineering, the Loewenberg School of Nursing, the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the School of Public Health will receive their degrees. Tre Hargett, Tennessee secretary of state, will be the speaker. Businessman and philanthropist Jim Ayers will receive an honorary doctor of letters degree.
