Commencement ceremonies for 128 students of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at
the University of Memphis will be held Saturday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at the Cannon Center
for the Performing Arts.
Addressing the graduates will be Caroline Hunter, chair of the Federal Election Commission.
Ms. Hunter graduated cum laude from the U of M Law School in 2000. She received her B.A. degree from The Pennsylvania
State University.
She was nominated to the FEC by Pres. George W. Bush in 2008. She had previously
served as vice-chair of the United States Election Assistance Commission.
Her other federal service has been as deputy director of the White House Office of
Public Liaison and as executive officer at the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security’s Office
of Citizenship and Immigration Services.
From 2001 to 2005 she was associate counsel and later deputy counsel at the Republican
National Committee.
