For press information, contact Gabrielle Maxey, 901/678-2843

Undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Memphis will showcase their research projects and scholarly activities Monday, April 2, at the 24th annual Student Research Forum in the University Center Ballroom. The research forum will feature poster displays representing students’ work from a diverse array of colleges and disciplines.

Poster presentations will run from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., and the awards ceremony will begin at noon. Up to $3,000 in prizes will be awarded.

This year, 117 graduate and undergraduate students will present original research on topics such as:

• Whether exercise intervention has an effect on the elderly persons’ balance;

• How the detection of cardiac arrhythmia may be improved in electrocardiogram (EKG) recordings;

• Whether sickle cell anemia patients are likely to develop osteopenia/osteoporosis; and

• What effects China’s “One Child Policy” has had on the Chinese middle class.

The multidisciplinary showcase is sponsored by the Graduate School and the Helen Hardin Honors Program. For more information, call 901-678-4212.
