The University of Memphis will host two events this month related to off-campus housing.
On March 23, the annual Off-Campus Housing Information Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
in the University Center Ballroom. Admission is free, and door prizes will be awarded.
Sponsored by the Adult and Commuter Student Services department (ACSS), the fair will
provide students with information about off-campus housing options and services in
the community. Fair-goers will be able to speak personally with representatives from
local housing and apartment properties and other related vendors about their amenities,
services and specials.
In conjunction with the Off-Campus Housing Information Fair, ACSS will host a seminar,
“Leasing Agreements and Tenants’ Rights,” March 16 from 10:20 to 11:15 a.m. in the Senate Chambers, University Center Room 261.
The seminar will focus on topics such as safety and security, tenant rights and responsibilities,
lease agreements, what to look for during a housing search, and other subjects pertaining
to off-campus housing. The facilitator will be Larry Baer, an attorney with the Baer
Law Firm.
The department of Adult and Commuter Student Services provides non-traditional and
traditional-age commuter students with a supportive environment that promotes intellectual,
social and academic growth and development through services that foster lifelong learning.
