Dr. A. Stephen Lenz
Dr. A. Stephen Lenz, assistant professor in the Department of Counseling, Educational
Psychology and Research at the University of Memphis, is one of three professors who
received the Outstanding Research Award from the Association for Assessment and Research
in Counseling (AARC).
Lenz worked with authors Dr. Richard Balkin of Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi
and Dr. Michelle Perepiczka of Walden University on the article “Evidence for the
Mitigating Effects of a Support Group for Attitudes toward Statistics,” published
in the journal Counseling Outcome Research and Evaluation.
The article was the result of a large project to assess the effectiveness of a four-session
support group intervention with students in a doctoral counselor education program
completing statistics coursework.
AARC is an organization of counselors, educators and other professionals who advance
the counseling profession by promoting best practices in assessment, research and
evaluation in counseling.
