The University of Memphis will host Biomaterials Day 2011 on Friday, Jan. 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn, 3700 Central Ave.

Steve Peckham, director of Biologics R&D at Medtronic Inc., will give the keynote address. The conference will include presentations and panel discussions on employment and careers in the biomedical field, with speakers from local biomedical companies such as Wright Medical, Smith & Nephew, and Medtronic; panel discussions with clinicians addressing grand challenges in biomaterials; and poster presentations by graduate and undergraduate students and industry professionals. There also will be a networking luncheon and reception for students.

Registration is free for students and includes refreshments, the luncheon and reception. Parking is free for those who attend. Registration is available online at http://sites.google.com/site/MemphisSFB/biomaterials-day.
