The University of Memphis Opera will present Confession by composer Raphaȅl Lucas and librettists Jacques Trussel and Margaret Vignola, on
Friday, January 6, 2012 at 7:30 pm in Harris Concert Hall (3775 Central Avenue). The
work is the 2011 winner of the biennial Chamber Opera Competition held by the National
Opera Association. This will be the premiere of the chamber orchestra version. The
opera is a prequel to the beloved one-act opera Suor Angelica by Giacomo Puccini, exploring the events leading up to a pregnancy, a child out-of-wedlock
and subsequent life-long interment in a secluded convent.
Copeland Woodruff directs the opera. Mark Ensley is the conductor.
