The College Database has recognized the University of Memphis as the top college in
Tennessee for students interested in military service.
Each college or university on the list of Top Colleges in Tennessee for Future Service
Members offers at least two ROTC programs to active students, as well as in-state
tuition below $20,000 per year. Private, for-profit schools are excluded.
The U of M ranks first in the state with an affordable annual tuition rate and three
ROTC programs: Army, Navy and Air Force.
With the cost of college a concern for many families, it’s important for students
to find an affordable post-secondary option with demonstrated academic excellence.
However, it’s equally important that students interested in service have the opportunity
to explore military programs while working toward a degree.
“Military service is critical to America’s future. It’s a profession that requires
a solid academic foundation, along with core leadership skills,” said U of M Provost
David Rudd. “We take great pride in our ability to contribute to developing future
military leaders, and to do so in an affordable and effective manner.”
The College Database is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to provide free
information about educational options both nationally and locally to students, parents
and other interested parties.
