The University of Memphis will hold auditions for The Phantom of the Opera Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. in Harris Concert Hall. Aug. 29 and 30 auditions are open to the University community; Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 are reserved for U of M theatre and music majors.

Those auditioning should prepare a song appropriate for the show and no longer than two minutes. An accompanist will be provided; recorded music may not be used.

Callbacks will be Sept. 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. Rehearsals for Phantom will begin Nov. 14; performance dates are Feb. 16-19 and 22-25, 2012.

The popular Andrew Lloyd Webber musical will be part of the U of M’s Centennial Celebration and its most ambitious theatrical production to date.
