The first official graduating class of the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus will
be recognized at a baccalaureate ceremony on Thursday, May 3, in the R.E. Womack Chapel
on the Lambuth Campus. A musical concert will precede the ceremony. The music will
begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the ceremony at 7 p.m.
U of M President Shirley Raines will be the baccalaureate speaker, and music will
be provided by Dr. Jeremy Tubbs, Dr. Dennis Janzer, and Dr. Lee Weimer. The vocalist
for the event will be Sidney Burngasser, a member of the graduating class.
Forty-two students are in this first Lambuth Campus graduating class. Twenty-one
are from Jackson; the others are from towns throughout West Tennessee.
A reception with friends and family of the graduates will be held immediately following
the ceremony in the F. W. Hamilton Room of the Wilder Student Union.
