U of M honors former State Senator
President Shirley Raines and the University of Memphis honored former Tennessee State Senator Curtis S. Person (BS ’56) earlier this year by naming the plaza adjacent to the University Center after him.

Person is founder and charter president of the U of M Rebounders, recipient of a U of M Distinguished Alumni Award in 1982 and former president of the U of M National Alumni Association. He served in the state Senate from 1968 to 2006 after a term in the state House of Representatives. He has been a strong advocate of the U of M since he was a student here in the 1950s.
