Authors can submit manuscripts for consideration to the Journal’s Editorial Board
via the website ExpressO at http://www.law.bepress.com/expresso/. Alternatively, submissions can be made directly by emailing mhlpjournal@gmail.com, or mhlpj.executiveeditor@memphis.edu. All submissions are to contain the article itself, a curriculum vitae/resume, and
a cover letter. Prior to a publication decision, all articles must pass a thorough double-blind peer-review. Student works are accepted, but must pass peer-review.
Article Specifications:
Format: Microsoft Word (preferred).
Text: Double Spaced.
Footnotes: Single spaced at the bottom of each page; double spaced between footnotes;
one tab between footnote number and footnote text.
Font: Times New Roman; 12 pt. (including footnotes).
Levels for Headings: Use traditional outline headings; I, A, 1, (a), (1).
APA and MLA Style Articles: The Journal welcomes submissions from mental health scholars outside of the legal
profession. Accordingly, articles written in non-legal style may, on occasion, be
accepted for publication. In these instances, the staff of the Journal will work with the author to reformat
the manuscript into legal form.
Authorship Awards: Upon completion of Volume 1 of the Mental Health Law & Policy Journal, the following
awards will be made for the most influential articles of the volume.
- $3,000 – Most influential article of the volume
- $1,500 – Second-most influential article of the volume
- $1,000 – Most influential student paper of the volume
- $500 – Second-most influential paper of the volume
