The Intermodal Freight Transportation Institute's Center for the Advancement of Female Transportation Professionals
hosted the Mid-South Women in Transportation panel on Tuesday, September 24th from
1:00-2:30. This event served as a bonus afternoon session for the Intermodal Freight
Conference as well as a stand alone event for current and future female transportation
The panel was extremely well attended by both men and women transportation professionals.
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Chief Economist, Jack Wells, was a member
of the audience!
The outstanding panel of women transportation professionals were entertaining, enlightening
and quick to share their experiences. Moderated by Cheryl Citrone, the panelists were
able to showcase the variety of opportunities available through transportation careers
and highlight challenges and successes of women in the Memphis area pursuing these
Following the panel session, the event attendees consisting of students, faculty and
industry professionals, connected and networked. Since this event kicked off the newly-formed
Society of Female Transportation Professionals, the participants shared thoughts about
future Society events.
