Certificate in Instructional Design and Technology
 

Students interested in receiving the Certificate in Instructional Design and Technology must be admitted to this graduate certificate program. The courses may be completed as part of a degree program with the advisor's approval.

This certificate program has two tracks: (1) K-12 Educational Technology and (2) Design and Development. Each require 12 credit hours of online coursework as described below.

Track One: K-12 Educational Technology

This track is designed for educators who want to integrate the use of computers in the classroom. The focus of these courses is to develop the technology competencies needed for the development, utilization, and integration of instructional computing technology in the classroom. The required courses are IDT 7061/8061, IDT 7062/8062, IDT 7063/8063, and IDT 7064/8064. To view course titles and descriptions, visit the IDT Course Catalog.

Note: If you are already enrolled in any degree program, you do not need to complete the application process. Instead you will need to submit a Change of Status Application.

Track Two: Design and Development

This track is designed for instructional designers and developers who work in non-education related settings such as business, government, military, and health care. The required courses are IDT 7063/8063, IDT 7070/8070, IDT 7080/8080, and IDT 7090/8090. To view course titles and descriptions, visit the IDT Course Catalog.

Both tracks for the Certificate in Instructional Design and Technology are approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents. However, they are not an endorsement or add-on licensure. After completing the required coursework and application form, the certificate designation will appear on the your university transcript.
