It’s fairly simple to make an online gift. Go to the Web site of The University of Memphis for giving online (you may also reach the site by clicking on the icon at the left labeled MAKE A GIFT). Before entering any information, check to make sure that you have actually reached the secure server of the Advancement Division of Development. The browser’s address bar should show that you have reached https://www.memphis.edu/development/give.php/ and it should also be displaying an icon (usually a lock that is closed) for a secure site.

Once there, you will first be asked to designate where you want your gift to go. The form assumes you want to contribute to the unrestricted Academic Fund, but you can change the designation. To designate the Department of History you must first click in the “radio button” labeled College/School/Department/Other.

This will expand the category to include several possible recipients by name, but the list includes only the major units of the university. The Department of History is not listed as such. Toward the bottom of the listing you will find a box labeled Other.

In that box enter Department of History and in the box to the right enter the amount you wish to contribute. If that is the only contribution you wish to make, enter the same amount in the box labeled Total Donation Amount.

The rest of the form consists of personal information and payment information.
