Dean Warder Dean Richard Warder is Retiring

After nearly two decades of leadership at the Herff College of Engineering, Dean Richard Warder has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2012. In honor of his dedicated service, the College will be hosting a dinner and event on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The event will be held at the Memphis Peabody Hotel. A small block of rooms are available at a discounted rate for guests traveling from out of town. Mark your calendar and watch your inbox for more event details. Alumni Chapter News

Congratulations to Mark Askew (BS Civil Engineering, '76) and Jim Dean (BS Engineering Technology, '80) who have been selected as the 2012 Herff College of Engineering Outstanding Alumni. Mark is the founder and president of Askew Hargraves Harcourt & Associates (A2H), a full-service firm of engineers, architects, surveyors and landscape architects based in Memphis, Tennessee. Jim is president of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment's Busch Gardens and Adventure Island in Tampa, Florida. Mark and Jim will be honored, along with faculty, staff and community service award recipients, at a ceremony and dinner on April 3, 2012. The event will be held at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn. A reception and silent auction will be held at 6:30 PM. Dinner will immediately follow. Biomaterials Biomaterials Day

On February 17, 2012, the University of Memphis was host to Biomaterials Day 2012, a one-day symposium focusing on the past, present, and future of biomaterials innovations and research from clinicians, industry professionals, and students.
