Detailed Recruitment Information

Overview

Joining a Greek organization is one of the best decisions you could ever make! You are joining a family that has tens of thousands members spanning over 100 years! You are joining a friendship that will last a lifetime and a group of unique individuals that are working towards the same goals and living the ideals of their organization. Individuals who live the values of scholarship, service, friendship, and leadership.

Joining a chapter at the University of Memphis is a major step in your college career – as well as one of the most important decisions you could ever make. Now the only thing left to do is decide where you belong!

There are two ways to become Greek at the University of Memphis:  Recruitment and Intake.

Recruitment is the process in which Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council (PC) accept new members. Panhellenic Council Formal Recruitment is held in September each year and is open to all incoming and current female students.  SIGN UP for Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment TODAY!  Interfraternity Council Recruitment begins in the summer months and continues into Formal Recruitment, also during September. Interfraternity Council Recruitment is open to all incoming and current male students.

Intake is the process in which the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) accepts new members. The Membership Intake Process is held at the discretion of each individual chapter throughout the year. Intake processes are mandated from each chapter’s national headquarters and vary from one chapter to another. Intake can include, but is not limited to: interviews, group activities, and studies of group values and traditions. The best way to become involved in NPHC organizations is to: attend events of the organization(s) in which you hold interest, become involved in other student organizations on campus, maintain a grade point average of at least a 2.5 for most chapters. Membership Intake Process is open to all current students who have completed at least one semester at the University of Memphis.

NOTE: Individuals preparing and eligible to become a part of any NPHC organization must attend the mandatory Intake Seminar before submitting any documents for membership.
