Richard W. Smith, Managing Director of FedEx, Visits FCBE

Tuesday, April 30 the full-time MBA program was pleased to host Richard W. Smith as
the guest speaker for their weekly Lunch & Learn gathering. This was the final Lunch
& Learn session for the semester. The Lunch & Learn series invites notable business,
government and NGO leaders to speak to Fogelman College’s full-time MBA students (which
include both Customer Driven and International MBA programs) about issues important
to the given speaker's organization and industry.
Richard Smith is Managing Director of Life Sciences & Specialty Services and U.S.
International Global Trade Services for FedEx Express. As the son of FedEx founder
Frederick W. Smith, Richard Smith literally grew up with the business watching FedEx
evolve from an express shipping company to a worldwide shipping icon. In this role,
Richard Smith provides strategic direction for developing global customized logistics
and supporting specialized services within FedEx. During the Lunch & Learn he spoke
about FedEx's structure and specialized service offerings.
Shown in the photo, Mr. Smith is accepting a plaque from the students of the Customer
Driven MBA program. The plaque extends the appreciation of the entire full-time MBA
program for Mr. Smith's time and insights during the Lunch & Learn session.
