ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING

Description
The School of Accountancy in the Fogelman College of Business & Economics is seeking two  tenure-track Assistant Professors, effective fall semester 2015, pending available funding.  Responsibilities include effectively teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a stream of quality research, participating in activities of the Department, and fulfilling professional and university service responsibilities.  The Department is an academically diverse, research-oriented group of 17 full-time faculty members.  The Department offers degree programs at all levels and is fully accredited by AACSB International.  For more information about the School and its programs, visit www.memphis.edu/accountancy.  

Qualifications
A Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution is required (advanced ABDs may be considered if degree completion is imminent).  All candidates must have either education in, or experience working with, U.S. GAAP, tax law, and/or auditing standards. Teaching and research interests in all areas of accounting will be considered.  Effective college teaching experience and evidence of strong research potential are required for assistant professor.  Graduate teaching experience and professional certification (CPA preferred) are desired.

Compensation
This is an academic-year appointment and offers competitive compensation, summer research support, and an attractive benefits program, depending on qualifications.  

The College
The Fogelman College of Business & Economics has become a leading business school in the Southeast.  Globalization is a strategic emphasis of the College.  Degree programs offered include the BBA, MA (Economics), MBA, Executive MBA, International MBA, MS, and PhD.  The academic programs of the College are fully accredited by AACSB International.  The College faculty of 96 serves nearly 3,100 students, with approximately 2,450 undergraduates, 525 master’s students and 80 doctoral students.  The highly qualified faculty is recognized for scholarship and publications in leading academic and professional journals.  The College outreach units include the Sparks Bureau of Business & Economic Research and the Robert Wang Center for International Business and Research (one of only 31 CIBERs in the nation).  

The University

The Community
