The Great Oaks Foundation recently awarded three professorships to deserving Fogelman
College faculty members. Drs. Chuck Pierce, Bill Smith and Marla Stafford were selected
as the recipients of these prestigious awards because of their continued commitment
to academic research and their leadership in the College and the community.
A representative of the Great Oaks Foundation said, “We are pleased to support the
University and the Fogelman College of Business and Economics with these professorships
for faculty members because they exhibit excellence in both research and community
Dr. Chuck Pierce is the chairman and a professor of the Department of Management;
Dr. Bill Smith is the chairman and a professor of the Department of Economics; and,
Dr. Marla Stafford is the chairman and a professor of the Department of Marketing
and Supply Chain Management. Their direction and leadership has positively affected
their respective departments, but has also tremendously enhanced the College as a

of these prestigious professorships.”
The honored faculty members will receive monetary compensation of $10,000 annually
for five years.
