The U of M has received a prestigious Circle of Excellence Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Only 27 institutions from a field of 504 were chosen to receive recognition for overall improvement in fundraising with the CASE-Wealth Engine Award for Educational Fundraising.
Institutions cannot apply for this award. Instead, CASE processes data available from the Council for Aid to Education on higher education institutions and conducts its own extensive analysis, basing the award on three years of performance.
Accomplishments from the three years judged by CASE include improved funding and improved donor and constituent relations programs, highlighted by a newly branded and re-energized alumni association.
CASE is an international organization for advancement professionals who work in alumni relations, communications and development.
FedEx Corp. has received the Regents Award for Excellence in Philanthropy from the Tennessee Board of Regents. The Memphis-based company has demonstrated its world-class spirit of generosity through multiple contributions to the University of Memphis.
The company's gift of $5 million in 2001 produced the public-private partnership that has become the FedEx Institute of Technology. In 2002 FedEx donated $250,000 to launch the Institute's Center for Supply Chain Management.
In 2005 the University announced an additional gift of $5 million over five years for the Institute to support research, facilitate the recruitment of internationally recognized faculty and fund initiatives such as the visiting speakers' series and residency program for innovators, artists and CEOs.
In addition to monetary contributions, FedEx leaders have helped to shape the Institute by providing leadership, expertise and influence. FedEx has led numerous companies, including Fortune 500 organizations, to become involved with and support the Institute.
The U of M Alumni Association has kicked off its first-ever Me & 3 campaign. We are asking the entire alumni membership to bring in three new members. Our goals are to become the largest and most vibrant alumni association in Conference USA and to help raise the University's ranking in U.S. News and World Report. Before kicking off the campaign, membership was up 40 percent. Our goal is to be up 100 percent by next June, so we need you to ask someone to join today!
