Alumni and friends of the University of Memphis demonstrate their support in numerous ways throughout the year. We appreciate and honor those of you of who act on our behalf, cheer on our efforts and give of your time and resources for the University of Memphis.
We ask that you now consider making a year-end gift to your University. Your contribution is especially important this year and will make a difference in the lives of the many students who currently call this their University.
Are you looking for the perfect gift for the special people in your life? Make gifts in their honor, and they will receive note cards letting them know you recognized them. Additionally, your name and theirs will appear in next year’s Honor Roll of Donors.
You have many options for how you choose to give. Cash gifts are as simple as writing a check to the U of M Foundation and mailing it to Dept. 238, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148-0001. To make a gift online using a credit card, visit www.memphis.edu/development.
Gifts of appreciated securities may offer two benefits. You may be able to take a deduction for their full value, not just their original cost, and you may avoid the capital gains tax that would be incurred if you had sold the asset. If you are age 70 ½ or older, gifts from your retirement funds may be a wise choice, especially from your IRA. For more information on recent legislation on giving from your IRA, visit http://www.memphis.edu/yearendgiving.
For additional information about making a gift, please contact Marianne Minton, Director of Annual Giving at 901-678-3955 or email@example.com or Dan Murrell, Director of Planned Giving at 901-678-2732 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your support in this season of giving. Please accept our best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season!
It is no surprise that U of M alumna and Alumni Association annual member Jessica Edwards (BS ’02), BSN, RN-BC, is furthering her career by pursuing an executive master’s degree in nursing administration (E-MSN) from the Loewenberg School of Nursing. As a BSN student, Jessica served as vice president of the Student Nurses Association, working closely with faculty and students to convey the standards and ethics of nursing and develop the skills needed to be responsible and accountable nurses.
After graduating in May 2002, Jessica began her nursing career at Methodist Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center. After becoming a board certified pediatric nurse in 2007, Jessica was named the patient care coordinator for the Neuroscience Unit in May 2008, a 20-bed neurology/neurosurgery unit with ICU stepdown capabilities and a seven-bed epilepsy monitoring unit. In her current role, Jessica manages patient flow, staffing, education, clinical support, and research activities for children with brain tumors, seizures, head injuries, and spinal abnormalities.
The Loewenberg School of Nursing Alumni Chapter is proud of Jessica’s professional accomplishments. The chapter is most grateful for her dedicated service and leadership as secretary, vice president, and president of the Chapter since 2002.
