Admissions Deadlines and Procedures
The Department of Communication reviews applications for admission on a continuous
basis. If you've questions, please email Graduate Studies Coordinator, Antonio de Velasco.
NOTE: The Department of Communication does not review any applicant's case for admission until s/he has completed each of the two
(2) required applications. All components – including all of the materials mandated
by the University of Memphis Graduate School application – must be in place before
review can begin. Please see details for the procedures below.
Multiple criteria will be used when considering a student's application for admission,
including, but not limited to, undergraduate and graduate grade point average, GRE
scores, personal goals statement, writing/film samples, relevant employment history,
letters of recommendation, and the quality of the applicant's writing. The number
of students admitted to the MA program will depend on availability of adequate faculty
supervision and other department resources. GRE scores are required for every applicant.
