Memphis native, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law alumnus, and current U.S. Attorney
for the Western District of Tennessee Edward L. Stanton was the commencement speaker
for the School’s class of 2011. He spoke to the graduates Sunday, May 8, at the Cannon
Center for the Performing Arts, where 115 students received their juris doctor degrees.
Welcoming the guests to the commencement and the graduates to the legal profession
was the Honorable David S. Kennedy, Chief Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District
of Tennessee, who also serves as president of the Law Alumni Chapter.
In addition to the conferral of law degrees, the ceremony also honored two professors,
Robert Banks Jr. as Professor of the Year and the Honorable Mark Ward as Adjunct of
the Year.
Christina Grace Juneau Whiting spoke on behalf of the graduating class.
