Dr Yli-Piipari's academic interests lie in the study of determinants and consequences of physical activity behavior across K-12 and exercise settings. Specifically, Dr Yli-Piipari employs a social cognitive perspective to examine how social, physiological, behavioral, and psychological factors influence and are influenced by physical activity across the lifespan. One of the goals of his research is to apply motivation theories in developing innovative physical education curricula and school-based interventions to enhance children's and adolescents' learning, knowledge of physical activity, and to change their behavior for healthful living.
