Thomas W. Briggs Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award
The Thomas W. Briggs Award recognizes teaching excellence at the undergraduate level
and an overall commitment to undergraduate education. Two $7,500 awards are presented
each year at the Annual Faculty Convocation.
Nominees must be full-time faculty members at The University of Memphis and must currently
be teaching undergraduate courses. Tenure status is not required for nomination.
Nomination forms must be printed and returned with original signatures in order to
be considered. Blank forms may be obtained by calling the University of Memphis Alumni
Center (901) 678- 2586. Once a nomination deadline has been determined, forms will
also be available on the Provost's Web site.
As requested by the Thomas W. Briggs Foundation, the selection committee will be comprised
of recent University of Memphis alumni, faculty and a representative of the Briggs
Foundation. The administration of the award is coordinated with the assistance of
the Office of the Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
