Robert Andrew Parker studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and then at Skowhegan
in 1952. His career encompassed painting, printmaking, book illustration and set designs
for theater and opera. As an illustrator, his lively line and witty visual imagination
led to the creation of 40 children’s books.
He returned to Skowhegan as a teacher in 1964 and contributed “Sunday Dinner for a
Soldier,” an anti-war themed work to the portfolio.
