“Wiener Fragmente”

Valentin Oman

Much of Oman’s art addresses the plight of the ethnic minority of Carinthian Slovenes in Austria, where their language and customs are threatened by the German-speaking and oriented majority. Educated in Vienna at the University of Applied Arts and in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Oman is a painter, sculptor, printmaker and creator of public art installations. His recent public art consists of the disappearing Slovenian place names of the Carinthian region cast in metal.
