UMAA Club and Chapter Upcoming Awards Programs

Along with keeping alumni connected to the University, helping your degree grow stronger, and offering our members great benefits, the Alumni Association strives to honor our outstanding alumni. Many of our Clubs and Chapters host annual awards programs to recognize leaders and those who give back to the University.

Save the date for some of the upcoming fall awards programs listed below:

 FCBE Alumni Day

Nursing Alumni Chapter Legacy Luncheon
Join the Nursing Alumni Chapter to honor the Class of 1969, our first class of nursing graduates, at the Nursing Legacy Luncheon on Friday, September 21, at 9:30 am in the University Center. Honorees that will be in attendance include Dr. Bettye Harris Alston (ASN '69), Betty Kinchen Anderson (ASN '69, BSN '85), Charlotte Gibson Beaird (ASN '69), Ernestine Rucker Chism (ASN '69, BSN '85), Clara Goodall Evans (ASN '69), and Betty Rixter (ASN '69). Also enjoy a Distinguished Lecture by ABC News Medical Contributor Dr. Marie Savard, MD, entitled "Shape-Shifting Through Time: Dr. Marie's Waist Management Wellness Program for Women (and Men) of All Ages." Journalism Alumni Club Outstanding Alumni Awards
The Outstanding Journalism Alumni Awards Dinner will be held the evening of Thursday, October 18, in the Tennessee Ballroom at the Holiday Inn on Campus. The Charles E. Thornton Award will be presented to photographer Battle Vaughan (BS ‘65) and public relations professional Rikki Boyce (BA ‘74). The Herbert Lee Williams Award will be given to the former head of the UM Photo Services Department, Gilbert Michael. The Outstanding Young Alumni Award will be presented to sports journalist Gary Parrish (BA ‘99). The Emerging Journalist Award will be presented to Chelsea Boozer, current editor-in-chief of the Daily Helmsman. Action News 5 News Anchor Joe Birch will serve as the emcee for the event. Cocktail reception will begin at 6 pm followed by dinner and the awards program at 7 pm. Ticket prices are $55 per individual and $525 for a table of 10 if purchased before October 1. Arts & Sciences Alumni Chapter Outstanding Alumni Awards
The College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Chapter Outstanding Alumni Awards will be Thursday, November 8, at the Memphis Botanic Garden. The cocktail reception begins at 6 pm, followed by dinner and the awards program at 7 pm. More information and list of recipients to follow. Tickets are $65 per person or $500 per table of 8. FCBE Alumni Chapter Alumni Day
Save the Date: The FCBE Alumni Chapter will host its annual Alumni Day Luncheon on Tuesday, November 13 at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis. Registration begins at 11 am followed by lunch and the awards program from 11:30 am-1 pm. Tickets are $65 per person or $600 for a table of 10. More details to follow.
