Alumni Association Scholarship
The University of Memphis Alumni Association is proud to annually award 12 children
and grandchildren of Alumni Association members with the Alumni Association scholarship.

receive the scholarship each year. This year's recipients are:

Several Clubs and Chapters within the Alumni Association also offer Book Scholarships
to students. Proceeds from each event they hold throughout the year go to fund these

Tommie Pardue is the President of the Music Society and on the Advisory Board for
the Rudi E Scheidt School of Music of the University of Memphis. Mrs. Pardue is also
a Life Member of the Alumni Association. She also serves on the National Campaign
Committee and on the Ambassador's Board for the Dave Brubeck Institute of Jazz in
Stockton California. Being active in the Memphis community, she serves on the boards
for the Josephine Circle, The Salvation Army Auxiliary, The Germantown Arts Alliance,
The Germantown Performing Arts Centre Jazz Board, and on the Memphis and Shelby County
Film, Tape and Television Commission.
Mrs. Pardue was honored by Northwood University in Palm Beach Florida with a "Distinguished
Woman Award" and serves on their national executive committee. She also received the
"Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Tennessee Arts Academy in Nashville, and was
awarded the "Patron of the Arts" Medal of Honor by the Germantown Arts Alliance.
|She is very proud of her three daughters who all attended the University of Memphis,
and her five grandchildren. She retired as a music supervisor from Memphis City Schools.

We are excited to see each of the Tiger statues decorated by current students, alumni
and local artists, but we want YOU to be involved, too! One of the Tigers will be
covered in pictures of "what Memphis means to you." Another Tiger will be covered
in postcards from cities across the world where our alumni are now living. See below

Send us a photo that you feel best represents the city of Memphis or the University
of Memphis. It could be a picture of your favorite place in Memphis, you eating at
your favorite restaurant, or you and your friends doing your favorite Memphis activity.
Have a picture of a Memphis sunset or a great basketball game? That's perfect too!
The best photos will be included on 1 of the Tiger statues. Work has already begun
on the Tigers, so the deadline to submit your picture is Wednesday, June 15, 2011.

We are very proud to have U of M alumni living all across the world. We want to know
where you are now! Send us a postcard from the country, state or city that you currently
reside in. Each postcard will be incorporated into the design of a Tiger. Work has

The Herff College of Engineering Chapter will host a Professional Development Seminar (PDH) at Noon on Tuesday, June 21 at the Alumni Center. The guest speaker will be Mitch Jackson (BS '87), Vice President of Environmental
Affairs & Sustainability at FedEx Corporation, who will discuss “Practical Environmentalism
The FedEx Way: Moving From Here to There More Sustainably.” A boxed lunch will be
provided and a certificate will be issued to attendees for one (1) professional development
hour. Cost is $5 per person for University of Memphis Alumni Association members and

FCBE Alumni Chapter

On Tuesday, June 28 UMAR will participate in the “Arts on Broad” event. Members and their guests will explore the historic Broad Avenue Arts District

Commission. The group will then enjoy a tour of Broad Avenue Arts District galleries
