UMAR
On Tuesday, July 26 at 11 am the UMAR Book Club will enjoy breakfast at Brother Juniper’s before discussing July’s literary work, Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America by John M. Education
Alumni of the College of Education have planned an Education Alumni Focus Group Event for Tuesday, July 26 at 6pm in the University Center Ballroom. The Focus Group’s purpose is to help determine how the Alumni of the College can best serve its constituents, particularly in these challenging times. Alumni are looking for ways to engage with the community of educators, as well as with alumni who have left the field. Law Alumni Chapter
On July 14, the Law Alumni Board will welcome its new president, Tanja L. Thompson. Ms. Thompson, is a partner with Kieswetter Wise Kaplan Prather, PLC, received her J.D. degree from the University of Memphis in 1997. While attending law school, Ms. Thompson served as Articles Editor for The University of Memphis Law Review. She also served as an officer of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. Other board officers include The Honorable Robert “Butch” Childers, President-Elect, and R. Hunter Humphreys, Secretary/Treasurer.

The Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law Alumni Club will host its Law Reunion Weekend for classes ending in “1 or 6” with a reception at the Westin Downtown on Friday and Saturday, October 14-15. Festivities include a VIP Party before the 2011 Men’s Basketball Memphis Madness, tours of the Law School, and a cocktail reception on Saturday night. The University of Memphis Alumni Association will host its Vision Forum on Saturday, August 20 at the FedEx Institute of Technology on the University of Memphis Campus. More information to follow.

Tigers Around Town Grand Unveiling

Homecoming activities including a meet and greet at the Alumni Center, brunch and a
