UMAR (continued) On Tuesday, February 28, at 11:30 am the UMAR Garden Club will meet for lunch at the Trolley Stop Market located at 704 Madison Avenue, followed
by a hands-on learning session about seed starting. This group plans to meet on the

On Tuesday, March 6, at 9 am, the UMAR Breakfast Bunch will gather at the Perkins Restaurant & Bakery located in the Eastgate Shopping Center,
at 5112 Park Avenue. This group meets for a casual breakfast on the first Tuesday
of every month at 9 am. All UMAR members and U of M retirees are welcome. The cost

On Monday, March 19, at noon, UMAR will hear Rabbi Micah Greenstein speak as part of the Calvary Lenten Preaching Series. After Rabbi Greenstein’s presentation, we will enjoy lunch in the church’s “Waffle

Communication Sciences and Disorders Alumni Chapter The Communication Sciences and Disorders Alumni Chapter will host its annual Alumni Reception on Thursday, February 23, from 5:30-7:00 at the Hilton in East Memphis. The reception will take place during
the 42nd Annual Mid-South Conference on Communicative Disorders. We will be honoring
Tracey Baldwin (MA '82) as our Outstanding CSD Alumni for 2012. The event is free, and all alumni

MPA Alumni Club On Saturday, March 31, the MPA Club will participate in the Memphis Inter-Faith Association’s 13th annual
Day of Reflection and Service by volunteering for the “artistic board up” project which covers the windows of depressed
Memphis properties with plywood sheets painted to look like window panes. After the
service project the group will enjoy a tailgate in the parking lot of the Liberty Bowl before the Blue and Gray football scrimmage

Engineering Alumni Chapter On Tuesday, March 20, at 12 noon in the Alumni Center, the Engineering Alumni Chapter will host a Professional Development Luncheon. Tom Wyatt, an Engineering faculty member, will present "Engineering Ethics: A Primer."
The cost is $5 for Alumni Association members and $10 for not-yet members. Lunch will
be provided, and a certificate will be issued to attendees for one professional development

On Tuesday, April 3, the Engineering Chapter will present its Outstanding Alumni Awards at the Herff College of Engineering’s annual awards banquet at the Holiday Inn on
campus. As part of the Chapter’s celebration of the University’s Centennial, all previous
recipients of this award will be welcomed back for special recognition at this event.

Education Alumni Chapter The College of Education Alumni Chapter has changed its name! In conjunction with
the college, it is now the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. In 2012, the College of Education will celebrate 100 years of educating teachers.
To commemorate this occasion, the Education Alumni Chapter will honor exceptional
faculty and alumni from throughout our 100 year history on Tuesday, April 17, at 6 pm in the Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway Hall of Fame. The proceeds will help to
establish the Alumni Chapter’s Centennial Scholarship. Tickets go on sale March 1,

Arts & Sciences Alumni Chapter The Department of Anthropology is hosting a weekend-long Alumni Reunion to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of our Master of Arts program and the University
of Memphis Centennial, on April 20-22. The reunion will kick off Friday evening, with a free wine and cheese reception
at Jack Robinson Gallery. Saturday will be a free full day conference highlighting
the program’s history and the accomplishments of alumni and faculty, followed by a
Moroccan-themed gala at the Peabody Skyway. The reunion will conclude with a farewell

The Department of English alumni and faculty is celebrating the University’s Centennial with 100 Books for 100 Years, a program to highlight the literary history of the Department. Featured books will
include those written by alumni and faculty throughout the Department’s long history.
The Department will be hosting an open house for alumni and community members to view
the exhibit and to meet and students and current and retired faculty from all the

Young Alumni Committee The Young Alumni Committee is celebrating the University’s Centennial with the inaugural
Blue Moon Masquerade on Saturday, April 21, at 6 pm atop the Madison Hotel Roof in downtown Memphis. Young Alumni will be joined
by Frosh Camp Alumni for a sunset toast against the silhouette of the Memphis Bridge,
with music, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails to follow until the Blue Moon is high in
the sky. Don your True Blue Mask and make your way to the roof! Tickets go on sale
March 1, and will be $30 for Alumni Association Members or $35 for not-yet members.
