Get Involved with Alumni Clubs & Chapters!

In addition to connecting you with YOUR University, the Alumni Association also strives to keep our alumni engaged in their colleges or areas of participation after graduation. There are over 70 alumni clubs and chapters that host meetings and events throughout the year to bring alumni back to their Tiger roots. Events range from award ceremonies to recognize outstanding alumni, to service projects, to receptions. For example, additional signature events include the Young Alumni Committee's True Blue 5K that takes place on the U of M campus annually, the Luther C. McClellan Chapter's annual Homecoming Step Show, the Band Chapter's Bandmaster's competition, and the Fogelman College of Business Golf Tournament. The Half Century Club recognizes graduates of 50 years or more at its annual reunion and Golden Reception, and the University of Memphis Association of Retirees has formed a book club, a garden club, and members attend monthly outings. The Law Alumni Chapter will be hosting the Law School's 50th Anniversary Celebration in October.

In addition to the 12 scholarships the Alumni Association awards annually, several chapters also offer a scholarship to deserving U of M students. Proceeds generated from their events help support these scholarships. Therefore, by getting involved in the Alumni Association and attending events, you are not only supporting your University, but you're also helping to give back to students.

As the Association continues to grow, new clubs are being added. The Kemmons Wilson School Alumni Club was launched in February 2012, and the Professional MBA Alumni Club is launching this fall. Each club or chapter has a governing board composed of volunteers to help plan and market events. Board members must be current members of the Alumni Association. The Alumni Association is hosting a Club and Chapter Workshop on Thursday, September 6, from 6-9 pm in the University Center. Anyone is welcome to attend to learn more about guidelines, ask questions, and share ideas to make each club and chapter better and stronger. Dinner will be provided.
