Homecoming 2011 The Alumni Association will host the annual Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally on Friday, September 23, on the U of M Campus. The parade will begin at 5:30 pm followed by a pep rally at
6:30 pm. Parking is available at the Southern Ave. and Central Ave. parking lots.

2011 Parent of the Year The University of Memphis Alumni Association Parents Club invites students to nominate
parents or guardians whose lives have been an inspiration to their student and others
as the Parent of the Year. CLICK HERE for more information and to download a nomination
form. Applications are due by 4 pm on Monday, September 12. Nominators will be notified
by Thursday, September 15, if their nominee was selected as a winner.

Half Century Club Homecoming Reunion On Friday, September 23, the Half Century Club will enjoy a full day of Homecoming activities including a
meet and greet at the Alumni Center, brunch and a medallion ceremony at the home of
University President Shirley C. Raines, a tour or the campus, and a Golden Reception

Luther C. McClellan Black Alumni Chapter Homecoming Celebration The Luther C. McClellan Black Alumni Chapter will join in the Homecoming 2011 fun
with its annual Alumni Step Show showcasing stepping skills of current students and returning alumni on Friday, September 23, in the Rose Theatre immediately following the Homecoming Pep Rally. The cost is $10
for Alumni Association members and students (with membership card or student ID) and
$15 for not-yet-members. Proceeds benefit the LCM Scholarship Fund.
Join the Luther C. McClellan Black Alumni Chapter for a Homecoming Party immediately following the Homecoming Step Show on Friday, September 23, at 10 pm at 409 South Main. Tickets may be purchased at the door. The cost is $10
for Alumni Association members, $15 for the not-yet-members, and $20 for everyone
after midnight. Proceeds benefit the LCM Scholarship Fund.
Arts and Sciences Alumni Chapter Outstanding Alumni Awards The College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Board will host an Outstanding Alumni Awards

Journalism Alumni Club Outstanding Alumni Awards The Outstanding Journalism Alumni Awards Dinner will be held the evening of Thursday, October 27, in the Tennessee Ballroom at the Holiday Inn on campus. The guest speaker will be Natalie Allen of CNN. The Charles E. Thornton Award will be presented to Will King (BA ’74) of CNN and journalist Richard Copley (BS ’69). The Herbert Lee Williams Award will be given to former professor L. Dupre Long. Also, the inaugural Outstanding Young Alumni Award will be presented to author Johanna Edwards (BA ’01). Young Alumni Committee True Blue 5K The Young Alumni Committee will host its 5th Annual True Blue 5K on November 4, at 7 pm, on the campus of the University of Memphis. All proceeds from the race will
go to support the work of the Young Alumni Committee and its commitment to encourage
