The Herff College of Engineering Alumni Chapter will host its annual silent auction in the Spring at the College’s 50th Awards Dinner. Although the date for the event has yet to be set, the nomination process for the Outstanding Alumni Award and Engineering Achievement Award has begun. Click here to download a nomination form. Engineering PDH Seminar
Thursday, November 21, 12 noon CT
In-Person: Engineering Administration Building, Room 101
This one-hour webinar will feature Dr. Kathryn Simpson (BS '99) presenting "FDA Medical Device Regulations 101 - An Industry Perspective." The cost is $10 per person. Lunch will be provided to in-person attendees. A certificate will be issued to participants for one Professional Development Hour. The Engineering Alumni Chapter hosts events throughout the year to benefit its book schlarship. All Herff College juniors and seniors can apply for the scholarship. Up to 2 scholarships can be awarded in the amount of $500 each. The deadline for the 2013-2014 applications has passed. Engineering Outstanding Alumni Awards
The Engineering Alumni Chapter recently presented their Outstanding Alumni Awards at the Herff College of Engineering's annual awards banquet. Arif Shakeel (BSME '77), director of Western Digital Corporation, will receive the Outstanding Alumnus Award. Also being recognized for service to the College and to the field of engineering are Tommy Carls, Medtronic's senior vice president for Research and Development; E. Hunter Harrison, CEO of Canadian Pacific Railroad; John Ray, Jr., CareFusion's vice president for Global Research and development; and International Paper. View Photos
Professional Development Luncheon
Engineering professionals and students attended a Professional Development Seminar in February featuring LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED accredited professionals, Daniel McKee, David Bradford, Eric Sheffer, Tony Pellicciotti (BSET '93) and Krissy Buck, provided an overview of LEED, a leading edge system for certifying the greenest performing buildings in the world. The panel discussion covered sustainability in design, construction, and building operations including best practices and current technologies. Attendees received a certificate for one professional development hour (PDH).
